Confess Our Sins-December 20, 2011

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

God wants us to confess/uncover our known sins to HIM/others because if we don’t do so, the sins will make us into fools. Sin causes shame, fear, embarrassment, and regret for many. Moreover, it causes pride: to be deceived that one is 100% faultless and has no need of correction. All of these we can avoid/overcome when we are humble and ask for God/others forgiveness.

Romans 8:37 (King James Version)

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

James 5:16 (New Living Translation)

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

1 John 1:9 (New Living Translation)

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all wickedness.

·         Sin and the residue of sin (shame, fear, embarrassment, regret, pride) is wickedness, and God promises to remove it all!

John 3:17 (King James 2000 Bible)

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Romans 8:1 (King James Bible Cambridge Ed.)

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk no after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Fear of the Lord (8/22/2011)

Monday, August 22, 2011

Proverbs 14:26
In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Proverbs 16:25
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Proverbs 15:33
The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.
---

From what I've experienced and learned, the fear of the Lord is reverential fear.

Reverence is to honor and respect. This should be felt by and shown to God.

Reverence is expressed to every time you CHOOSE to, with an honest heart:
  • Say "Thank you"
  • Believe what God says in the bible and through others
  • Love others like Christ
  • Love yourself like Christ
  • Follow God's instructions and way for living
  • Ask God for help and guidance
  • Wait for God's guidance
  • Share God's word with others

Choose to fear God because you love him for WHO he is and his characteristics. He is such a good God and loves you dearly...He shows this daily...it makes his heart glad when we return this love to him as an act of gratitude (not in worry of punishment, or as a burdensome task). Love on the Lord by fearing him.
